Abstract
"City" piece on The Oasis, a tikki bar in Portland's Old Port section that received its second six-month entertainment license from the city council on June 17. Because its predecessor, Gilligan's, was seen as a noisy troublemaker, The Oasis has been unable to obtain a license for a full year. Michael Harris, owner of The Oasis, has taken some fairly unusual measures to try to ensure his club doesn't end up like Gilligan's. He has installed four security cameras to cover most of the inside and outside areas around the facility, and has asked the police to monitor the area between 11:30 p.m. and 1 a.m.
