Abstract

"City" piece on recent in-fighting between Portland hot dog vendors that have escalated to the point where city officials might start telling vendors exactly where they can park their wares. At a July 10 Public Safety Committee meeting, members addressed the need to assign specific locations for vendors, hoping it would lessen the friction. But the sidewalk peddlers want the system left alone, believing the city shouldn't control where they do business and that such a system could create even more conflict.
