Abstract
"Cover Story" piece on the number of local runners that are competing in the 6.2-mile Peoples Beach to Beacon race in Cape Elizabeth. The race, a lifelong dream of 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson, attracts the very best runners from around the world. The Beach to Beacon race is primarily sponsored and coordinated by Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland and has a total purse of more than $50,000. With special focus on Vincent Goscinski, 57, Eric Volin, 20, Kasi Davies, 22, and Kim Collins, 22, all of Cape Elizabeth, Jennifer Hutchins, 33, David Bass-Clark, 15, Ben Tinsman, 24, and Jim Higgins, 48, all of Portland.
