Abstract

"Cover Story" piece profiling Keita Whitten, 36, and Sara Cox, 36, who are community activists in Portland. Whitten splits her time between volunteering for the NAACP's Political Action Council and Behavioral Health Services, and working with the Black African Heritage Caucus. Cox works with the Maine Vocational Associates Therapeutic Rehabilitative Day Program, a federally funded organization that assists mentally disabled young adults through community work and creative expression.
