Abstract

The Mountain Division Alliance, a new coalition of municipal, state and private groups, hopes to create an east-west alternative transportation corridor between Portland and Fryeburg. The organization formed in response to Guilford Transportation's abandonment of 45 miles of the Mountain Division rail line. The Maine Department of Transportation is negotiating to purchase the rail line.
