Abstract
The federal Environmental Protection Agency on March 27 released data showing that Maine companies cut their toxic releases by 28 percent in 1993, during which time they released 12.6 million pounds of toxic chemicals. S.D. Warren in Hinckley, Georgia-Pacific in Woodland and Champion in Bucksport were the state's top three polluters, and eight of the top ten polluters were paper companies.
