Abstract
MaineStay, a 12-bed shelter for homeless youths between the ages of 16 and 23, is expected to open at 165 Cumberland Avenue in Portland next January. The shelter is a collaborative project by Ingraham, the Preble Street Resource Center, the YWCA and Day One, and the first three years of services will be funded with a $1.3 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant. The purchase and renovation of the property is expected to cost over $700,000, and Portland is being asked to fund $140,000 of the cost.
