Abstract
Country music is big in places like the Country Crossroads Dance Hall in Standish, a bottle club where people come to dance to groups like Cheyenne and the Silver Dollar Band. The Country Jamboree, held recently in Portland's Congress Square, featured the North Star Dancers, a performance group of Western-shirted, full-skirt-swinging line dancers. Country gigs are some of the most profitable, regular engagements of the Maine music scene. Details.
