Abstract
Portland city officials have purged 12,550 names from the voters' list, but some feels that the list still has too many names. David Costello of the Maine Secretary of State's office says that if the city has 45,601 registered voters, that means 88 percent of eligible voters are registered, as compared to a national average of 73 percent.
