Abstract
"The Talk of Maine" piece on the state's Dirigo Health program, which was passed after only six weeks of debate, and is designed to provide medical coverage for all Mainers. Critics worry about unintended side effects, but supporters are confident the program will be strengthened before it is implemented. With comments by Gov. John Baldacci; Sen. Michael Brennan, D-Portland and co-chair of the Joint Select Committee on Health Care Reform; Steven Michaud, president of the Maine Hospital Association; and Charlene Rydell, a health-policy analyst for Congressman Tom Allen, D-Maine.
