Abstract

"North by East" piece on the Forest Society of Maine's successful effort to raise $31.8 million to protect 329,000 acres of Maine forestland along the West Branch of the Penobscot River. Executive Director Alan Hutchinson was delighted that the newly reborn society managed to meet the Dec. 31, 2003 deadline and accomplish its goal.
