Abstract

Article on the Portland String Quartet, whose members are now entering their thirty-fifth year of playing together in Maine and around the world. The group consists of first violinist Stephen Kecskemethy, second violinist Ronald Lantz, violist Julia Adams and cellist Paul Ross. When the four started playing together in 1969, they had no idea they would still be performing in 2003. The quartet's concerts have received accolades from around the world, and no other professional string quartet in the nation has performed together longer.
