Abstract
"What's in a Picture?" piece featuring the wreckage of a U.S. Navy dirigible, the K-14, which had just been towed into a cove on Little Cranberry Island, just south of Mount Desert Island, on July 4, 1944. While on patrol on the night of July 2, the K-14 had gone out of control and plummeted into the ocean. Surviving officers believed the dirigible had been shot down by an enemy submarine, a fact denied by the Navy, although bullet holes were reportedly found in the blimp's fabric dome.
