Abstract
"North by East" piece about David Barry, of Bowdoinham, who operates the Market Boat, a 34-foot wooden Sharpie sailing boat that makes weekly visits to half a dozen islands in the South Bristol-Boothbay Harbor region with loads of fresh vegetables, chickens, and oysters. Barry departs South Bristol each Friday, stopping at docks on Heron, Squirrel, MacMahan, and several other islands. So far Barry has no competition for the islanders' business.
