Abstract
"North by East" piece on the Bartol Library in Freeport, a small library on Main Street in the heart of Freeport's retail district. When searching for funding to build a new library, Kay Haines, library director, was delighted to discover that the building could be leased for as much as $400,000 a year. The library now has plans for a new $2.6 million, 20,000-square-foot building that will not be dependent on taxpayer approval or a capital fund drive.
