Abstract
"Along the Waterfront" piece about George I. "Sonny" Hodgdon, Jr., a veteran East Boothbay boatbuilder, who has completed models of every America's Cup defender and challenger for the seventeen contests between 1851, when the schooner America first brought the cup home from Britain, and 1937, when the last of the great J-boats, Ranger, successfully defended against Britain's Endeavor II. Hodgdon's models, done in a scale of 3/8 inch to one foot, are a centerpiece of the displays at the new America's Cup Hall of Fame at the Herreshoff Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island.
