Abstract
"Along the Waterfront" piece reporting the Rev. Robert "Bobby" Ives is back home at Pemaquid Falls after a sabbatical in the town of Arbroath, Scotland, where he worked on his thesis, "The Dignity of Work." While in Scotland, Ives, who builds boats and character with two apprentices at his Carpenter's Boatshop, visited boatbuilding shops, which he described as "very traditional and very small." Ives established his boatbuilding school in 1978, where eight young apprentices, including one from Arbroath, are now at work building traditional small craft from wood.
