Abstract

"North by East" piece on the Bangor-based Maine Lobster Promotion Council, which is spearheading a campaign to counter anti-lobster propaganda spread by animal-rights activists, especially the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA mounted an advertising campaign condemning Rockland's Maine Lobster Festival and has spread misinformation about lobsters, but so far the effect on sales has been negligible.
