    Abstract

    "North by East" piece on Windham High School choral director Richard Nickerson and the Windham Chamber Singers. Nickerson, 33, created the 36-member group from scratch over the past 10 years. The first Maine group ever to be invited to the exclusive International Youth and Music Festival, the choir traveled to Vienna, Austria, and tied for first place. To finance the trip, they recorded a CD and sold close to 11,000 copies in five weeks.
