Abstract
"North by East" piece on Terry Lewis's Nonesuch House Antiques in Wiscasset, which for the past four years has featured a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy in the entryway. Lewis, 50, purchased the mummy from the Morse Museum in Warren, New Hampshire, and says he would sell it for $35,000. Publicity about the mummy this past summer prompted a U.S. Customs agent to place a seizure notice on the mummy and to disallow the sale or movement of the female body. Now the Egyptian government is talking about wanting the mummy back. Lewis has threatened to heave it off a bridge if he doesn't get properly compensated for it.
