Abstract

"Along the Waterfront" piece about boatbuilder Ralph Stanley, of Southwest Harbor, who got order to build a 21-foot, Friendship-style sloop from a lady from Sardinia after a dowsing rod she swing over his plans dipped. When asked if he believed in dowsing, Stantley replied: "If that pendulum persuaded her to hire me, I believe."
