Abstract

"Down East Bookshelf" piece on "Owls Head," by noted photographer Rosamond Purcell, who recounts her relationship of more than two decades with William Buckminster, a Knox County junk collector. The author explores the immense mountains of junk Buckminster has collected and describes her relationship with the taciturn man. The book is arranged spatially rather than chronologically. With brief notes on "The White Barn Inn Cookbook: Four Seasons at the Celebrated American Inn," by Susan Sully; "The Workshop: Celebrating the Place Where Craftsmanship Begins," by Scott Gibson; and "The Hatch Guide To New England Streams," by Thomas Ames.
