Abstract

"North by East" piece on the furor created when Nabisco quietly dropped its production of Pilot Crackers. The outcry resulted in more than 3,500 calls, letters, and e-mails and persuaded the company to bring back the cracker. Supplies have been short because the publicized shortage created many new customers.
