Abstract

"North by East" piece on a gift of 10,000 acres of land in Cutler and Whiting, worth more than $2 million, that was made to Maine by the Pennsylvania-based Richard King Mellon Foundation. Some 2,100 shorefront acres in Cutler were sold to the Land for Maine's Future program, and the rest of the property was given to the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, which will continue a timber-management plan developed by the trust for 5,000 acres of forest.
