Abstract

"North by East" piece on Annie Cook, who is using Segway battery-powered personal transporters to conduct tours around Portland's Eastern Promenade. Segways, introduced about three years ago by New Hampshire inventor Dean Kamen, are gyroscopically controlled two-wheeled transporters.
