Abstract

An account by Elizabeth Peavey of a kayak tour called the "Friday Night Phosphorescence Paddle," guided by Karen Fancoeur out of Castine Harbor. The group explored what are technically known as bioluminescent dinoflagellates, a form of phytoplankton that put on a mesmerizing marine light show. Francoeur is a Master Sea Kayak Guide and is known as the "Kayak Queen of Castine" for winning a race against a male New York Yacht Club member.
