Abstract
An article on Cheryl Michaelsen and Mike LaPosta's Berry Manor Inn in Rockland, the only AAA Four Diamond historic bed-and-breakfast on the midcoast. The first owner of the 1898 house was Charles Berry, a town mayor. The innkeepers have retained a luxuriously antique feel and hired many locals to help restore the house, which they researched carefully. They were newcomers to both Maine and the business, and LaPosta didn't even like staying in B-and-Bs, one reason they kept the atmosphere intimate but not overly cozy. They say the town and its residents have been highly supportive.
