Abstract
"North by East" piece on a banner reportedly flown at the Twentieth Maine Regiment's 1889 battlefield reunion, which was acquired for $10,500 by the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania. The banner had been made as an innocent curio in 2002, but it acquired historical cachet and a higher price each time it changed hands, eventually fooling several experts.
