Abstract
Profile of Roxanne Quimby, founder of Burt's Bees, resident of Palm Beach and Winter Harbor, environmentalist, and buyer and conserver of 40,000 acres in the North Woods. Because of opposition, she has dropped her dream of a national park in the North Woods and might eventually donate her land to Baxter State Park. Partly because she was the recipient of anonymous threats, she shifted her efforts to the Schoodic Peninsula and moved to Florida. Her Quimby Family Foundation works in the arts, animal rights, and humanitarian efforts.
