Abstract

An article on Portland designer and North Haven native Angela Adams, 40, who with her husband, Sherwood Hamill, opened a rug-making operation at the foot of Munjoy Hill. She started college believing her future was in athletics, but soon discovered art and design. Adams and Hamill now employ 20 people in the eight-year-old business, and sales exceed seven figures annually. An out-of-state mill handcrafts her custom rugs, while another line is made in India. Hamill's furniture is still crafted on Munjoy Hill.
