Abstract
An article on Portland's architecturally distinctive West End, home to 70 John Calvin Stevens-designed homes. The West End seems to absorb gentrification without changing its character. Local hangouts include the restaurants Caioloa'a, Cafe Uffa, and OhNo Cafe, along with the upscale deli, Aurora Provisions. Although she has moved off the peninsula, Peavey elucidates the reasons why she once was, and continues to think of herself as, a "West End girl."
