Abstract

"The Talk of Maine" piece on the mysterious death of Bella Baldwin on Vinalhaven, in 1972. Baldwin had been traveling alone, and her body was found near the water fully dressed. The investigation was perfunctory, and her death was never classified as suspicious. Former summer resident Alice Wolper has pursued the case and recently presented her research to Vinalhaven sheriff Donna Dennison, who promised to give the case new attention.
