Abstract

Portland has only one roller rink, Happy Wheels Skate Center, a relic of the chain of seven Happy Wheels that once operated around the state. Regular skaters make a weekly event of Adult Night, some coming early to talk with owner Danny Dyer, "the hardest-working man in the skate industry." Some head north for an additional Adult Night in Auburn, where the Auburn Rollodrome attracts skaters from as far away as Jackman.
