Abstract

Terrie and Wanda Pinkham, a mother-daughter team from Steuben, run DownEast Whelks, where they process pickled whelks, also known as "wrinkles." Terrie's husband, Earl "Perky" Putnam, a lobsterman, collects the whelks that climb into his traps. The Pinkhams distribute their product to upwards of 20 stores.
