Abstract

A brief account of the work of Daniel Jennings, a research scientist with the U. S. Forest Service who spent the bulk of his career, from the 1980s until his death in 2020, collecting, researching, and cataloguing spider specimens from all over Maine. Describes how this work culminated in the 2020 publication of "A Checklist of Maine Spiders," a compendium of 677 species published by the Maine Forest Service, and coauthored by Jennings's longtime friend and collaborator, Charlene Donahue.
