Abstract

An alphabetical collection of articles celebrating the critters of Maine. Longer pieces are abstracted separately under the title Maine Fauna A to Z. Shorter pieces (which range from snippets to a few paragraphs) are as follows: "B is for Blackflies;" "E is for Eiders;" "F is for Fishers;" "G is for Goats;" "I is for Immer" (as in Gavia immer, the common loon); "K is for Kingfishers;" "L is for Lynx;" "N is for North Atlantic Right Whales;" "O is for Ospreys;" "Q is for Quail;" "R is for Rabbits;" "T is for Togue;" "U is for Ursus;" "V is for Variability" (referring to the various colors lobsters can be); "X is for Xiphosura" (the order of arthropods which includes horseshoe crabs); "Y is for Yaks;" and "Z is for Zoos."
