Abstract

Hibbert's Gore, located in the upper righthand corner of Lincoln County, is one of eight gores in Maine. Gores are typically wedge-shaped, and usually result from a surveyor's failure to compensate for the curvature of the earth, but the 580-acre Hibbert's Gore is shaped like a parallelogram with a tail.
