Abstract

A brief history of the LaVerdiere Apothecary, one of the main attractions of the Waterville Historical Society's Redington Museum. Reginald LaVerdiere, the man responsible for the LaVerdiere's Super Drug Stores chain, collected prescriptions, scales, mortars and pestles, and other items from the small, independently-owned drugstores that he was buying up. Those antique pharmaceutical objects became the basis of the replica antique apothecary that continues to attract visitors to its richly furnished and evocative interior.
