Abstract

John S. Blank III was 14 years old when he started working for the Eastern Steamship Line in 1926 as a cloakroom steward. Blank wrote this account of a day in the life of his steamship, the Belfast, which plied the Boston to Bangor route, with stops at various Penobscot Bay ports.
