Abstract
Damariscotta, Newcastle and the neighboring towns on the Pemaquid peninsula have attracted so many retirees that Lincoln County ended the decade with the state's highest median age, 37.4 years, and the third-lowest proportion of native Mainers at 64.8 percent. Lincoln County was the state's fastest growing county during the 1980s, and per capita income increased at a rate of 68 percent. Details.
