Abstract

The State of Maine owns more than 200 islands in Casco Bay, most of which lack soil, vegetation, and recreational value. The islands are supervised seasonally by three summer park rangers based on Eagle Island. Little Chebeague and Jewell Islands are the centerpiece of a Bureau of Parks and Recreation plan for a Casco Bay Islands State Park. Bangs Island is leased to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as a waterfowl nesting site. Details.
