Abstract
The Ravenhill siblings, Amanda, 23, Brendan, 27, and Geoffrey, 29, started Islesford Boatworks as a summer program to teach the skill of wooden boatbuilding to children. Their vision became a community project of sorts, with students bringing friends and family into the mix. Their 12-foot dory skiff was launched in September and the siblings anticipate the program will expand beyond the capacity of their barn and the production of one boat per summer.
