Abstract
Casco Bay is seeing an increase in the number of commercial shellfish and seaweed farms, in part due to Portland being such an accommodating home port. To support these aquaculture businesses, Island Institute has initiated an aquaculture business development project which is currently supporting 23 participants. How Casco Bay mussels differ from one of its competitors, Prince Edward Island mussels, is explained, as well as key features about growing mussels, oysters, and seaweed. [images]
