Abstract
Chebeague Island resident Pete Pellerin moved to the island in 2009 and realized one of the higher costs of island living related to energy costs in order to heat homes. He established Maine Island Energy, which delivers fuel to about 2,200 residents of Chebeague, Peaks, Long, Cliff, Bustins, Great Diamond and Little Diamond Islands. Previously individual companies on each island delivered fuel to its residents, but by having one company deliver to several islands, the cost is spread out among more people, whereby reducing costs and helping to make island living more affordable.
