Abstract
Article on new business development in Camden in the wake of the closing of credit card company MBNA's operation at its Knox Mill facility. Last month, MBNA announced it would move its 360 Camden workers to its Rockland and Belfast offices, and market the Knox Mill office complex to new tenants. Although MBNA's move has caused some trepidation in town, many see it as an opportunity for the town to create a new plan for economic and community development that targets new markets. The Camden Downtown Business Group is focusing on boosting conference activity in town, and the local chamber of commerce hopes to start a community-wide discussion about the region's future.
