Abstract
"Focus on Northern Maine" piece with an interview with Brian Hamel, 46, of Presque Isle, who spent nearly 10 years overseeing the Loring Development Authority after Loring Air Force Base in Limestone was closed. He is taking a leave of absence to run for Maine's 2nd Congressional District seat, against Democratic incumbent, Rep. Mike Michaud. He credits the turnkey buildings, Mainers' work ethic, targeting compatible businesses, updating telecommunications infrastructure, and negotiating a precedent-setting real estate transaction with the federal government for Loring's success in attracting diverse businesses that include forestry products, aviation, industrial manufacturing, and telecommunications, as well as public sector tenants.
