Abstract
"Capitol Update" piece on the strengthening labor market in the state, as evidenced by a report from the Maine Department of Labor showing 3,500 net new jobs between March 2003 and March 2004. John Dorrer, the labor department's director of Labor Market Information, said the growth is mainly in the health care sector, with leisure and hospitality showing some gain as well. Job losses during the last year were almost all in the manufacturing sector. With additional comments on the potential impact of high energy costs on the state's economy.
