    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Southern" piece reporting that Ottawa-based Alcatel Canada recently filed a $200 million lawsuit against South Portland-based Fairchild Semiconductor, claiming negligence and breach of contract over Fairchild chips that were prone to failure. Fairchild said a faulty mold compound used in production is responsible for the chip failure, and that it had sued the compound's manufacturer, Sumitomo Bakelite Co. of Tokyo, in 2002.
