Abstract

"Focus on Northern Maine." Nearly 60 percent of Maine potatoes are grown for processing. A new variety is the Monticello, or NY102, which absorbs less oil and contains more dry matter than its competition. Experimental plots are a risky proposition for the grower, but farmer Dan Corey and UMaine professor Greg Porter hope the Monticello will be ahead of the curve. Table shows Maine potato growth and value.
