Abstract

"Focus on Retail" piece on Westbrook-based Olympia Sports and its president, Dick Coffey. Since 1975, the store has grown to a chain from its original South Portland location. Four new stores--three out-of-state--are due to open soon. Keeping to smaller markets, having smaller stores and a limited inventory, and exploiting its proximity to Wal-Mart are keys to the company's success. Coffey plans to open between 20 and 25 Olympia stores next year.
